简介: 2130年，受第三次世界大战的影响，日本各地均出现了被称为“BS（Black Spot）”的巨大污染区域。“BS”被作为废墟用巨大墙壁隔离，然而不久，这荒芜的大地出现了居民。他们被住在“城市（City）”里的人称为“无用者（Needless）”，而当中也有特殊能力者存在。故事的开端是名为库鲁斯·西尔特的少年，他所属的反抗组织的目标是从西美翁的暴力统治中解放“BS”。在一次与亚当·阿库莱特的战斗中反抗组织被攻破，幸存者库鲁斯只身一人逃进地下水道。在被追兵追赶的时候，救助他的是和阿库莱特相貌相似的阿当·布雷特。库鲁斯和布雷特后来来到了教会，并且遇见了众多同伴，以此为契机，库鲁斯开始了在教会的生活和战斗。 NEEDLESS改编成的动画版，2009年7月起在东京都会电视台播放，高清制作，全24话。故事和漫画有重大的出入。
