简介: 故事发生在1978年至1998年的改革开放二十年间。电影放映员陈福林一家与文革蒙冤的领导干革命部林汉民一家是多年的邻居，陈家的儿子陈焕与林家的女儿平平从小青梅竹马，又一起上山下乡。78年恢复高考，陈焕考上师范大学，而一向争强好胜的林平平却因父亲的政治问题被拒校门之外。物换星移，林平平的父亲落实政策，重返领导岗位，林平平考上北京大学。陈焕与平平虽结百年，却情缘难续。一年又一年，陈家与林家在各自不同的社会层面上经历着二十年来社会巨变带给他们精神与物质的一次次冲击与洗礼。
