简介: 该剧描述了我国著名国画大师张大千在敦煌近三年时间，临摹敦煌壁画、修缮石窟前栈道、清理流沙的真实故事。抗日战争时期，年久失修的艺术宝库敦煌一方面已引起海内外画界、史学界、考古学界的关注，另一方面面临战乱无人管护，主人公张大千和他的弟子一行人作为中国画界临摹敦煌壁画第一人来到敦煌。张大千一行人起初准备用三个月时间完成壁画临摹，到了目的地后才发现工程非常浩大。面对艰苦的生活和复杂的局势，他如何实现自己的初衷。该剧展现了二十世纪上半叶中国知识分子的风貌，在场景的安排上采用了大敦煌、大西、大中国的概念，戈壁、沙漠、胡杨林、阳关遗址、旧城堡等都是剧中人物活动的空间，展示了大敦煌的文化内涵和大西北的壮美风光。
