简介: 农村姑娘菊香（王茜华）念书时成绩优秀，高中毕业本可以保送生资格进入大学，不想却因关系不够硬被人顶替。但性情爽快的她并没因此失掉对生活的热情。嫁给看来精明能干但家境贫寒的李家二柱（孙涛）后，她立誓要与他夫妻协力尽快致富发家，做了种种大胆的脱贫尝试。起初，二柱对美丽勤快的媳妇言听计从，但他是天生的软耳朵，听不得乡邻议论纷纷，菊香的“冒险行为”慢慢地不得他的认同和支持。菊香与高中同学赵军平的频繁接触更令他妒火中烧，全不管媳妇只是借助后者扩大致富门路。村支书李月春（蒋宝英）是二柱的姑姑，因为菊香开了女人当家的先河，她对菊香也是处处刁难。但二柱寡言的父亲李月久（戈治均）和大哥大柱一直默默跟随菊香，因为她的确令这个家的生活一日好过一日。
